The dry-witted and caustically funny Community tells the story of Jeff Crocker (The Soup's Joel McHale), a fast-talking lawyer who faces disbarment when it's learned that his undergraduate degree isn't quite as legitimate as he made it out to be.
Unlike simply doing another genre and shooting it like a normal episode of Community, this type of documentary has its own rhythm. But Community‘s not just any show, and its creators realize that the audience is willing to follow it to new places.
Community Season 2 dvd is about giving audiences the same thing week after week, so this is always risky, but by building these things into the show’s DNA Community manages to get away with this.
The Community is a comedy, so it takes a few jabs at the perceived community college experience, but not in a mean-spirited or spiteful way – more like the way life takes jabs at all of us. The main character’s philosophy on a community college education seems to reflect the misunderstanding some people have about what a community college can do.
McHale is absolutely sensational as the compulsively mendacious Jeff, a man for whom lying comes so naturally, he might as well just be breathing. It's fantastic to see McHale embody such a despicable character, yet he imbues Jeff with an overwhelming charisma that makes it impossible not to root for the guy.
The rest of the cast is equally fantastic and their characters will likely be further developed as the series progresses, but I am already enchanted by Jacob's street-smart Britta and Pudi's hilarious Abed.
Even with Community that’s rarely been the case, and while there’s nothing wrong with having an episode parody a random genre for no particular reason, it feels extra special when there is one. Community
tv series dvds for sale is at its heart a comedy, and thankfully, the gags are still there.
