Set in the Williamsburg neighborhood of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, 2 broke girls season 1 chronicles the lives of two waitresses in their mid twenties - Max, who comes from a poor working-class family, and Caroline, who was born rich but is now disgraced and penniless due to her father, Martin Channing, getting caught operating a Bernard Madoff-esque Ponzi scheme - working together at a Brooklyn restaurant. The two become friends and build toward their dream of one day opening a cupcake shop. At first, Max sees Caroline as yet another in a long line of inept servers she must cover for, but she's surprised to find that Caroline has as much substance as she does style. When Caroline discovers Max's knack for baking amazing cupcakes, she sees a lucrative future for them, but they first need to raise the start-up money.
Caroline is visited by one of her father's attorneys whom has had some rough problems as her father has almost bankrupted his company but still seemed eager to help Caroline. The Drug Trial they had to stay in a room in groups of three and that means another girl had to join them. Half of the participants received the medication with side effects and the other half received a placebo.
It appeared that only there unfortunate room mate received the medication with Max and Caroline receiving a placebo. There room mate had some hilarious scenes going to the washroom with the side effects while the girls just chilled out in there bunk beds.
