In californication season 5 boxset Hank reads through Tyler's screenplay this week on Californication and is shocked by its subject matter as well as its quality. When Hank goes to give Tyler notes he meets his two moms who have a passion for photographing certain body parts. Tyler opens up to Hank about his initial motivations for dating Becca but confesses to truly loving her. Hank begins to give him notes on his script. Upon returning home he is greeted by Samurai and Eddie Nero who Samurai wants written into his movie. Nero stumbles on Tyler's script and tells Hank he has found his next movie.
A few years have passed and Hank is living in New York but looking for a ticket out of town after his latest breakup. He accepts an invitation from Charlie to come to Los Angeles for a job writing a film starring rapper/actor Samurai Apolcaypse, then reunites with Karen, her former professor and now-husband Richard, and his daughter Becca, who now has a boyfriend named Tyler that is the spitting image of Hank himself... in the worst possible way.
