HBO has apologised for a scene in Game Of Thrones Seasons 1-2 DVD which appeared to depict George W Bush's head on a spike. During the DVD commentary, showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss admitted: "George Bush's head appears in a couple of beheading scenes." They added: "It's not a choice, it's not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around."
In the wake of a bloody purge in the capital, Tyrion chastens Cersei for alienating the king's subjects. On the road north, Arya shares a secret with Gendry, a Night's Watch recruit. With supplies dwindling, one of Dany's scouts returns with news of their position. After nine years as a Stark ward, Theon Greyjoy reunites with his father Balon, who wants to restore the ancient Kingdom of the Iron Islands. Davos enlists Salladhor Saan, a pirate, to join forces with Stannis and Melisandre for a naval invasion of King's Landing.

Tyrion and Varys find common ground. Dany ignores Jorah's advice. Stannis and Davos approach their destination, and Davos is offered a reward.
The prop head, which was mostly covered with a long wig, was shown decapitated and displayed on a stake during the HBO drama's first season finale. This little easter egg can be spotted when the sadistic King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) forced Sansa Stark (Sophie Tuner) to see her own father among a series of severed heads displayed for the citizens of King's Landing.
The author explained that, with his multitude of projects, "production is moving faster than I can write". "It's a slow process the way I write, especially books of this size that are as large and complex as they are," he said. "It's still a slow process. "I am aware of the series moving along behind me like a giant locomotive, and I know I need to lay the track more quickly, perhaps, because the locomotive is soon going to be bearing down on me."
