With liberal doses of humor, it's a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations.
On this episode,The rare Vance episode always keeps things interesting in large part because you never know quite what to think of the guy. He's head of NCIS, yet simultaneously not part of the fabric of the team.
While Rocky Carroll gave a strong, nuanced performance in portraying a man in Vance's position. From the onset, he wanted to believe and help the troubled Michael, yet a part of him was clearly skeptical.
Tony is hilarious and funny. His humor can be genuinely witty, self-deprecating or funny in a slapstick sense. Sometimes all of the above. I wouldn't say that's ever changed.
Gibbs still suspects Michael is guilty, due to his criminal record, but Vance maintains that even though Michael had a tough childhood, he is still innocent.Fingerprints reveal that Michael was involved in the gambling ring.
The wrong-place-wrong-time story seemed believable enough, which in hindsight made sense, as it was partially true what Michael said about why he was there ... save for not knowing the guy and not stabbing him and all. Gibbs showed restraint but still pursuing the case to the best of his ability. Mark Harmon and Rocky Carroll are terrific to watch together when they're both on their game like that.
The Good Son" (below) begins with the team working the crime scene. Baltimore PD does have a suspect in custody already, and when the bring him into NCIS HQ, the suspect tells Vance they're wrong.Nevertheless Michael insists he didn't do it. It doesn't look like Gibbs is just going to accept that, but Vance interrupts.
Tony brings so much more to the table - how about that tackle of the fleeing suspect.And also it is quite self-evident thatVance is too close to the case, and for his family's sake, you have to hope that Michael is, in fact, innocent. However, just because you want something to be the case doesn't mean it will be.
This series will offer us more and more fabulous moments with the plots moving along with. Hope we can find many other movies and series we are interested in at
